At Little Light Portraits, we understand that photographing children is built on trust.

This policy explains how we collect, store, use, and protect images and personal information shared with us through school portrait sessions.

Our goal is simple: to handle every child’s image with care, respect, and transparency.

  • For school portrait sessions, Little Light Portraits may collect limited information necessary to deliver your child’s photos, such as:

    • Student name (provided by the school)
    • Parent email (for gallery access and communication)
    • Purchase and order information
    • Optional consent preferences (portfolio/social sharing)

    We do not collect unnecessary personal data, and we never sell or share parent or student information for marketing purposes.

  • Portraits are created for the purpose of delivering personal photographs to families.

    Images may be used for:
    • Private online gallery viewing
    • Digital downloads and print purchases
    • Order fulfillment through professional labs

    We will only use images publicly (website, portfolio, social media) when consent has been given by parents or guardians.

  • All Little Light Portraits, portraits are delivered through secure, password-protected galleries.

    This means:
    • Only invited families can access images
    • Galleries are not indexed publicly
    • Parents control downloads and sharing

    We partner with professional gallery platforms that prioritize privacy and secure access.

  • Little Light Portraits stores images using a layered system that includes:

    • Secure local editing drives
    • Backup storage for redundancy
    • Password-protected computers and cloud services
    • Limited team access during editing and delivery

    Only a small editing team handles files, and we take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access.

  • To balance family access with responsible data handling:

    • RAW image files are retained temporarily during editing (typically up to 6–12 months)
    • Final edited images may be archived for approximately 1–2 years to allow reorders and downloads
    • Images may be deleted sooner upon request when reasonably possible

    Portfolio images with consent may be retained longer for business showcase purposes.

  • Families may request removal of their child’s images from Little Light Portraits archives at any time. While full removal from all backups may not be immediate, we will make reasonable efforts to honor requests and prevent further use or sharing.

  • When consent is provided for portfolio or social media use:

    • We select images thoughtfully and respectfully
    • We avoid full names or identifying details
    • We prioritize dignity and positive representation

    Families may change their consent preference at any time.

  • Little Light Portraits does not sell, trade, or distribute student or parent information to third parties.

    Any third-party partners (such as gallery platforms or print labs) are used solely for image delivery and order fulfillment.

  • For school portrait sessions, some information (such as class lists) may be shared with Little Light Portraits by the school for scheduling and organization purposes. This information is used only for portrait workflow and is not retained beyond what is necessary.

  • Little Light Portraits exists to document childhood with gentleness and care. Privacy, respect, and family trust are essential to that mission. We are committed to honoring them in every portrait we create.
